Elizabeth's father was Samuel Taylor and her mother was Martha Mather.  Her maternal grandparents were John (Mechanic) Mather and Ann Thompson. She had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Martha.  She was the second oldest of the three children. She had a half-brother named James.
