Thomas Stocks

Thomas was born in 1847 in Berry Brow.¹

Thomas' father was Charles Stocks and his mother was Hannah (Ann) Boothroyd. His paternal grandparents were George Stocks and Martha Stocks. He had three brothers and two sisters, named George, Henry, William, Martha and Ellen. He was the fourth oldest of the six children.

General Notes
- Thomas Stocks, while still a young man, carved the first sculpture of a steam train on the rocks above Berry Brow station platform in 1864, at the request of Mr Thomas Swinburn, chief engineer on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway's Huddersfield to Sheffield line.
