Mary was born in 1826 in Almondbury and her christening took place there on July 30th, 1826.1  Mary's father was Noah Stocks and her mother was Mary Frith.  Her paternal grandparents were John Stocks and Sarah Gledhill . She had four brothers and two sisters, named John, William, Henry, Samuel, Ann and Sarah.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
