George Stocks 
George was born in 1822 in Tintwistle.1 George's father was David Stocks and his mother was Margaret Goldthorp. His paternal grandparents were David Stocks and Isabel Lodge. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, David, Mary, Betty and Ruth. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 71 in August 1893 in Taylor Hill.
