Ann was born on March 17th, 1827 in Breightmet and her baptism took place on April 16th, 1832 in Ainsworth.1  Ann's father was Robert Spencer and her mother was Margaret Thompson. She had a brother named John.  She was the younger of the two children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Henry, Elizabeth and Margaret.
