Peter's father was Peter Smith and his mother was Jemima Statham. He had three sisters named Margaret, Jemima and Mary.  He was the youngest of the four children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Peter and Ann.  He died at 3 months old in April 1826 in Bolton.  He was buried on April 23rd, 1826 in Lancaster.¹
