Frederick was born in 1866 in Lytham St Anne's.1  Frederick's father was James Richardson and his mother was Sarah Shaw.  His maternal grandparents were George Shaw and Mary Ann Stocks. He had a sister named Annie.  He was the older of the two children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Joseph and Jane.  He died at the age of 49 in 1915.
