John Postans

John was born in 1809 in Knighton Upon Teme and his christening took place there on March 4th, 1810.¹²

- Birth place: Knighton, Worcestershire, England (1851 census)
  
  Knighton is about 20 miles west of Ludlow, so seems strange he was born here, and then worked as a Farm Labourer around Tunbury, south east of Ludlow. It is more likely he was born in Knighton Upon Teme, Worcester, which is also where he married Martha in 1834.

John's father was John Leetward and his mother was Honor (Honoria) Postans. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Samuel, Mary and Harriot. He was the second oldest of the five known children. He died at the age of 78 in October 1887 in Tenbury. His burial was on October 25th, 1887 in Tenbury.²³

Death Notes
- John may have died between 1851 and 1861. After 1851, all the children split up, and went into service, boarding or married. It's not clear what happened to John. If he stayed in Worcestershire, then the only death before 1861 is in Kidderminster (6c,137), but this isnt him.
  An IGI record has his death as 1887 which also confirms his birth in Knighton Upon Tern.

  Dont confuse with another John Poston who married Martha,
  in Orletoin in 1851. Also, another John Poston born in Ludlow in 1803 who moved to London to run a cofee shop.
