(Samuel) was born in September 1855 in New Brighton and his baptism took place on October 23rd, 1855 at St. Peter (Liverpool).¹²

(Samuel)'s father was Samuel Morgan and his mother was Martha Holt. His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Holt and Ann Green. He had a brother and two sisters, named Francis, Charlotte and Martha. He was the second youngest of the four children.
