Thomas was born in 1824 in Thornton-le-Moors and his baptism took place there on February 29th, 1824.1  Thomas' father was William Millington and his mother was Sarah Youd.  His paternal grandparents were John Millington and Mary Gibbons. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, George, Jesse, Alfred, John, Sarah and Hannah.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.
