Sarah was born in 1853 in Preston.1  Sarah's father was George Youd Millington and her mother was Margaret Philips.  Her paternal grandparents were William Millington and Sarah Youd. She had three brothers and two sisters, named George, Alfred, Herbert, Harriet and Margaret.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
