William Robert Mather

William was born in June 1872 in Sharples and his baptism took place on June 27th, 1872 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).¹

William's father was Robert Horsefield Mather and his mother was Jane Clegg.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Mather and Ellen Horsefield. He had three sisters named Elizabeth, Mary and Henriett.  He was the oldest of the four known children.  He died at the age of 8 in October 1880 in Chorley.  He was buried on October 28th, 1880 at St. Paul's (Astley Bridge).²
