Mary was born in 1753 in Warrington and her baptism took place on March 15th, 1753 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1  Mary's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Marjory. She had three sisters named Mary, Martha and Alice.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
