Margaret was born in March 1843 in Warrington and her baptism took place on August 10th, 1845 at St. Elphin (Warrington).1 2  Margaret's father was Peter Mather and her mother was Mary Gleave.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter Mather and Margaret Moors. She had a sister named Ellen.  She was the older of the two children. She had a half-brother named William.
