William Mather

William was born in December 1848 in Warrington.¹

William's father was William Ogden and his mother was Mary Gleave. He had two half-sisters named Margaret and Ellen.

- William was an illegitimate child of Mary, born a year after his fatgher Peter Mather had died. His father is possibly William Ogden, a shoemaker and boarder with his mother Mary in 1861.
  
  In 1861, although his mother Mary was a widow and unmarried, William had 4 more younger siblings.
