Jane was born on February 2nd, 1739 in Newton le Willows and her baptism took place there on February 13th, 1739.1  Jane's father was Henry Mather and her mother was Martha Woods. She had three brothers named Thomas, Richard and John.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
