Ian was born on December 27th, 1941 in Manchester.1   Ian's father was Edmund Mather and his mother was Eveline Barnes.  His paternal grandparents were James Mather and Mary Ann Johnson. He had two sisters named Mary and Marion.  He was the youngest of the three children.  He died at the age of 72 on December 22nd, 2014 in Cheshire.1
