Eveline was born in October 1889 in Bolton and her baptism took place on November 3rd, 1889 at Bolton Holy Trinity.1 2  Eveline's father was John William Mather and her mother was Elizabeth Williams.  Her paternal grandparents were James Henry Mather and Martha Williamson. She had two brothers and two sisters, named James, Eric, Margaret and Elsie.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
