Elizabeth was born on January 9th, 1793 in Bolton and her baptism took place on February 28th, 1793 at St. George (Little Bolton).1  Elizabeth's father was Joseph Mather and her mother was Martha Enwistle.  Her paternal grandparents were Zacharias Mather and Sarah Brooks. She had two brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Zacharias and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the four known children.
