Eliza was born in March 1870 in Sheffield.1  Eliza's father was George Mather and her mother was Eliza Lomas. She had two sisters named Emily and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the three known children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Joseph, William and Mary.
