Ann was born in 1817 in Bolton and her baptism took place on May 11th, 1817 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Ann's father was William Mather and her mother was Grace Thomison. She had a brother and two sisters, named James, Elizabeth and Nancy.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
