Ann was born in 1756 in Whitefield and her baptism took place on April 14th, 1756 in Prestwich.1  Ann's father was John Mather and her mother was Mary Dawson.  Her paternal grandparents were John Mather and Joanna Hilton. She had four brothers and a sister, named Thomas, James, William, Richard and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the six known children.
