Alice Mather

Alice was born in May 1837 in Bolton.¹

- Was aged 16 months when died, so born about May 1837 (just before the civil BMD register started).

Alice's father was <unknown> and her mother was Sarah Bayley. Her maternal grandparents were John Bayley and <unknown>. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Betty. She was the oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named James, George and Ann. She died at the age of 1 on September 5th, 1838 in Bolton. Her burial was on September 9th, 1838 at St. Peter's (Bolton).²¹

- Mother Sarah was a widow when Alice died 5-Sep-1838, aged 16 months. Sarah (and daughter Alice) were living at Cotton St, Halliwell at the time of Alice's death in Sep 1838.
  
  Sarah Mather is on the 1841 census at Waterloo. Just a few doors away are Samuel and Alice Mather and family (next page of census).
  
  Its not clear who the father was, but may have been William Mather who died in 1837
  
  Alice was possibly named after her grandmother.
