Alfred was born on July 8th, 1894 in Victoria (Au).1  Alfred's father was Richard Mather and his mother was Sarah Belle McCann.  His paternal grandparents were David Mather and Esther Heaton. He had three brothers and a sister, named David, Thomas, Raymond and Alice.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 75 in 1969 in Sydney.1

‌Alfred and Grace were married in a religious ceremony on July 24th, 1920 in Melbourne.1  They had a son and two daughters, and also a child of unknown gender, named Kelvin, Lorna, Shirley and <child>.  There are no more children.
