Martha was born in May 1799 in Breightmet and her baptism took place on May 26th, 1799 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Martha's father was Richard Lomax and her mother was Mary Kenyon.  Her paternal grandparents were James Lomax and Mary Crompton. She had a brother and a sister, named James and Jane.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
