John Lewis

John's father was James Lewis and his mother was Bridget Nowland. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Lewis and Elizabeth Beard. He had a brother and two sisters, named Richard, Ann and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the four children.

- In 1841, Bridget Lewis (mother) had Elizabeth (11), Richard (7) and John (3) with her at Ness, Neston.
  
  In 1871, John and Mary (31 & 33) were at the Colliery Cottages, Rainford with James (8), Ann (5), John (3) and Elizabeth (2mo). Samuel Davies was a logger (25, possibly a brother-in-law as also a coal miner from Neston)
