James Lewis

James was born in 1800 in Neston and his baptism took place there on February 6th, 1801.¹

James' father was Thomas Lewis and his mother was Elizabeth Beard. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas, Griffith and Mary. He was the fourth oldest of the five children. He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, In the shaft of a Coal Pit at Nes, Neston, at the age of 38 on July 5th, 1838 in Ness.²

General Notes
- James was from Liverpool when he married Bridget, so this is where he may be from. However, there are other family ties to Neston and it seems likely he is closely related to Joseph Lewis (1796-1878), both Coal Miners with families in Neston. Both families moved to live in Whiston (near Prescot), Lancashire.
  
  James was killed in a mining accident. He died as a result of falling to the bottom of a coal pit as Ness, Neston when he fell out of a basket to the bottom while descending into the pit.
  
  In 1851, his Wife and three children were at Ness, Cheshire
  
  Bridget Lewis moved to Rainford, to be with her daugter Elizabeth, where she died in 1860.
