Dorothy was the daughgter of William Kay of Goosnargh. Soon after Dorothy emigrated to the USA, her father died. William Kay of Little Inglewhite was buried at Whitechapel 16 Oct 1842, aged 55.
Lawrence Kay of Inglewhite (1832-1850), buried at Whitechapel 10 June was probably a cousin.
Dorothy was 40 in 1850, in New York.
Dorothy and William were married in a religious ceremony on July 9th, 1832 in Lancashire.2
