John Howarth

John was born in December 1697 in Lower Darwen and his baptism took place in December 1697 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Blackburn).¹

John's father was Peter Howarth and his mother was Alice Ainsworth. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Howarth and Elizabeth Osbuston. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Elizabeth. He was the youngest of the three children.

- Thomas (eldest son and heir) and John were left property in Lower Darwen, Witton, Mellor, and Piccope Bank in their father's Will dated 28 Oct 1698.
  
  In 1731, John appears to have been Govener of Blackburn Grammar School.
