Sarah was born in 1824 in Elton and her baptism took place on January 4th, 1824 at Cockey Moor Discenting Chapel.1 2  Sarah's father was Samuel Holt and her mother was Margaret Holt. She had a brother and three sisters, named William, Mariah, Jane and Peggy.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
