Robert was born in 1824 in Liverpool and his baptism took place on September 12th, 1824 at St. Nicholas (L'pool).1  Robert's father was John Hale and his mother was Alice Malloy. He had four brothers and a sister, named George, <Unknown>, James, Richard and Alice.  He was the oldest of the six children.
