David was born in 1869 in Canada.1  David's father was Rev David Bickerton Hale and his mother was Emma Campkin.  His paternal grandparents were David Hale and Mary Millman. He had a sister named Gertrude.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 54 on August 26th, 1923 in Lewisham.2

‌David and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony in September 1895 in Lewisham.3  They had two daughters named Mary and Margaret.
