Mary was born in 1749 in Marsden and her baptism took place there on July 8th, 1749.1  Mary's father was Samuel Haigh and her mother was Sarah Parkin.  Her maternal grandparents were George Parkin and Susanna Harrison. She had a brother and two sisters, named Thomas, Sarah and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the four children.
