Thomas was born on July 11th, 1805 in Bury and his baptism took place on September 8th, 1805 at St. Mary-the-Virgin (Bury).1  Thomas' father was Richard Greenhalgh and his mother was Ann Rostron. He had two sisters named Elizabeth and Margaret.  He was the youngest of the three children.
