Annie was born in 1869 in Turton.¹

Annie's father was Ralph Entwistle and her mother was Alice Mather. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Mather and Hannah (Ann) Kirkham. She had a brother and a sister, named Walter and Hannah. She had an adopted sister named Sarah. She had four half-sisters named Margaret, Jane, Mary and Elizabeth.
