Lilly was born in 1877. Lilly's father was Charles Edwards and her mother was Elizabeth Edwards. Her paternal grandparents were John Edwards and Ann Davies. She had three brothers and three sisters, named William, George, Charles, Annie, Charlotte and Mary. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She died at the age of 56 in 1933.
