John was born in 1802 in Wrexham and his baptism took place there on March 3rd, 1802.1  John's father was John Eddowes and his mother was Mary Brown.  His paternal grandparents were Mr John Eddowes and Elizabeth Taylor. He had a brother named Thomas.  He was the older of the two known children.
