John's father was John Eddowes and his mother was Mary Poynton. He had two brothers and a sister, named David, William and Mary.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 46 in November 1799 in Wrexham.  He was buried on November 18th, 1799 in Marchwiel.¹
