Ellen was born on November 29th, 1871 in Bolton.1  Ellen's father was William Dyson and her mother was Maria Barnes.  Her maternal grandparents were James Barnes and Mary Bolton. She had two brothers and four sisters, named William, James, Sarah, Mary, Mary and Louisa.  She was the youngest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 87 on January 31st, 1959 in British Columbia.2
