John was born in 1830 in Connah's Quay.  John's father was Edward Dodd and his mother was Ann Bennett.  His maternal grandparents were Benjamin Bennett and Elizabeth Millington. He had a brother and two sisters, named Joseph, Catherine and Rachael.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 49 on March 2nd, 1879 in Scotland.1 




John's family with Mary Jones

‌John and Mary were married in a religious ceremony in 1851 in Northop.3  They had four sons and three daughters, named Edward, John, Joseph, William, Elizabeth, Mary and Sidney.  There are possibly more children.
