Will's father was Christopher (Fred) Frederick Dittmer and his mother was Maud Seymour Lindop.  His paternal grandparents were Johann (Chris) Heinrich Christoph Dittmer and Katharina (Margaret) Margretha Magdalena Heuer. He had a brother named George.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 83 in June 1988 in Liverpool.²

• General Notes

  My mother belived he may have moved to 7 Halsey Crescent in mid/late 1900's
  
  In 1917, Frederick Dittmer arrived at Ellis Island from Liverpool.
  
  22 Aug 1919, William Dittmer (DOB 27 Jun 1905) was discharged from Lister Drive Council School, Tuebrook (reason given as now over school age).
  
  About 1920, Fred started work as soon as he could, aged about 14 or 15.
  
  In 1921, Frederick William Dittmer (15y, 11mo) was living with Herman Henry Christopher and Elizabeth Dittmer and others.
  
  In 1926, after his parent had died, Frederick William Dittmer (and his uncle Charles) were still living at 42 Alton Road.
  
  Will (but mum doesn’t remember May coming) would occasionally visit their house in Devonshire Road.  He was a nice chap.  Very genuine.  He would bring them wooden blocks to burn on the fire.  These may have come from his job (on the railways maybe?)
