Richard was born in 1791 in Pentrobin and his baptism took place on November 27th, 1791 in Hawarden.1  Richard's father was Richard Davies and his mother was Susanna  (Susan) Millington.  His maternal grandparents were John Millington and Susannah Bannion. He had a brother and a sister, named Edward and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the three known children.
