Sarah was born in December 1843 in Turton and her baptism took place on December 31st, 1843 at St. Laurence (Chorley).1 2  Sarah's father was James Cunliffe and her mother was Sarah Jackson. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Richard, James, Elizabeth, Margaret, Hannah, Frances and Mary. She had an adopted sister named Sarah.  She died at the age of 5 in 1848 in Sharples.1
