Anne was born in July 1756 in Uppermill and her baptism took place on July 11th, 1756 at St. Chad (Rochdale).1  Anne's father was James Buckley Snr and her mother was Elisabeth (Betty) Cresswell. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John, James, Joseph, John, William, Betty and Hannah.  She was the third youngest of the eight children.
