Thomas was born in September 1760 in Wybunbury and his baptism took place there on September 3rd, 1760.1  Thomas' father was Joseph Brereton and his mother was Rachel Pickstock.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Brereton and Elizabeth Simpson. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Katherine, Ann and Sarah.  He was the third youngest of the six children.
