Ann was born in September 1755 in Wybunbury and her baptism took place there on September 12th, 1755.1  Ann's father was Joseph Brereton and her mother was Rachel Pickstock.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Brereton and Elizabeth Simpson. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John, Thomas, William, Katherine and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
