Thomas was born in December 1726 in Acton by Nantwich and his baptism took place there on December 26th, 1726.1  Thomas' father was Rannulphus (Randle) Brereton and his mother was Maria (Mary) Beech.  His paternal grandparents were Ranalphus (Randle or Ralph) Brereton and Amy Bettiley. He had a brother named Randle.  He was the younger of the two children.
