John was born in June 1799 in Nantwich and his baptism took place there on June 21st, 1799.1  John's father was George Brereton and his mother was Sarah Bebbington. He had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Ann.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-sister named Stephen.  He died at the age of 76 in May 1876 in Nantwich.  He was buried on May 11th, 1876 in Audlem.1 2
