George was born in 1785 in Wybunbury and his baptism took place there on June 14th, 1785.1  George's father was George Brereton and his mother was Sarah Archdale.  His paternal grandparents were Samuel Brereton Snr and Mary Whittingham. He had two brothers named Abel and Samuel.  He was the second oldest of the three children.
