Mary was born in 1786 in Bolton and her baptism took place on July 14th, 1786 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Mary's father was Isaac Bolton and her mother was Alice Yates.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Bolton Esq and Esther Nield. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Robert, Thomas, Thomas, Isaac, Mary and Esther.  She was the third youngest of the seven children.
